Fundamentals of Fat Loss
Somehow your life has changed and before you know it you're sporting a belly. Where did it come from? Just a year ago, or maybe less, you were doing OK, not in the best shape, sure, but you weren't sporting a belly that sagged over your belt. You stare at it and wonder if you're just full, or if you're too relaxed, and try straightening up, sucking in your gut. There, you look normal. But when you relax there it goes again, lounging out over your belt, heavy and solid. What is that? The rest of you isn't huge, just that suddenly you're sporting a few extra pounds in the middle. What can you do to get rid of it? What is the honest and best way to go about getting rid of the flab? In today's article we take a look at the scientific fundamentals of fat loss, and help you get started in the right direction.
How do you get started? What is the best way to begin losing fat? I'm going to tell you the hard truth here and that is that the best way to lose fat is to start whatever it is you are going to do straight away, and not waste time looking for the silver bullet. Everybody wants the answer that will help them lose weight with a minimum of effort, but the truth is that almost anything will work if you do it consistently over a long period of time. Whatever form of exercise you decide to do, whatever form of diet you decide to do, as long as you are moving and burning calories it will work. There is no silver bullet outside of effort and change of habits, so if you find yourself killing time looking for the perfect answer, then buddy, you're wasting time.
The same goes for your diet. If you want to lose weight, then the best thing you can do is eat less then you need. Say your need to eat 2,000 calories a day to maintain your weight. Then eat only 1,750 and over the course of three or four months you'll drop the pounds. Does it matter if you eat mostly carbs, or mostly protein? Does it matter if you eat red meat or go vegan? Sure, in some ways it does, but the fundamental truth is that all you need to do to lose weight is cut calories.
