Two Cool Little Tricks to Lose Weight

If you're over weight, you've no doubt flirted with the idea of a diet or joining the gym. Perhaps you've already done so, but failed to follow through with your dreams of losing weight, and found yourself once more indulging in snacks and bad food soon after. The reason that happens is because people tend to take an all or nothing approach, and that means they're setting themselves up for failure. Instead, it's infinitely better to make small changes in your diet, to adopt small changes of habit that you can easily incorporate into your lifestyle and thus gradually and slowly but absolutely surely lose the weight you've been meaning to lose these past few years. In today's article we take a close look at two such cool little tricks, and help you see how to adopt them yourself.

The first trick that most people fail to do is to cleanse their kitchen of all the bad food and junk that they are trying to cut out of their diet. The rationale for keeping junk in your kitchen is very powerful and convincing: people tell themselves that to throw out all those donuts and soft drinks is akin to throwing out money, and that they should thus eat everything they have already bought. What this means is that you are sabotaging yourself from the get-go by refusing to adopt a hard line when it comes to healthy eating, and leaving temptations lying around to trip you up the moment you become weak. It is much better to simply throw out all that junk and ensure that you are starting fresh and have no temptation at home, even if that means your money was wasted. But think about it this way: you already messed up in buying that junk. To eat it would make your mistake even worse.

The second trick is a small and subtle one, but most people fail to understand how easy it is to adopt. And that is to exercise just a little each day. People seem to think that when it comes to weight loss that they must exercise for two hours at maximum intensity or nothing at all, and don't see that even just taking a ten minute walk each day can make a world of difference in the long run. Instead, they kill themselves in the gym for three weeks, then quit and go back to the couch. Don't do this!
