Dirty Drinking Water - Did You Know That It Is A Problem In Our Country Too?

Everyone knows that dirty drinking water is a problem in the poorest nations of the world, but it is also a problem in the wealthiest nations. It's just a different kind of dirt. Here's what I mean.

When you think of dirt, you might think of something brown and impossible to drink. The kind of dirt that is a problem in much of the US and other wealthy nations is invisible, although sometimes you can smell it.

One of the solutions used to get rid of the brown color is chlorine, a chemical used to disinfect pools and whiten clothing. In areas where the bacterial levels in the freshwater are extremely high, you can smell the chlorine. In some cases, you can even see the yellow flakes.

Public treatment facilities maintain that the chemicals are not dangerous, even if you can see them. But, they certainly do not look or smell that way.

Scientific studies have shown that the facilities are mistaken. While there may be no immediate health effects, the chemicals build up in the body over time contributing to all kinds of health problems, including cancer.

AlThe good thing about this kind of chemically dirty drinking water is that it is an easy problem to fix.

all it takes is a home filtration system.

Everyone should know about the risk of chemicals and the fix for the problem, but it has been hard to spread the word. Maybe you can help by telling your friends.

Everyone serviced by a public treatment facility needs a home or point-of-use filtration system. Various types are available. You can attach them to your faucet, install them beneath your kitchen sink, replace your showerhead with one that filters or even filter everything that comes into your house.

All of the solutions for dirty drinking water are affordable, but not all of them are effective. In order to determine the effectiveness of a product, you need a little help. The better companies provide the proof you need in the form of product performance data. The information is published at the better purification companies' websites.

It may be tempting to buy bottled, but environmentalists are requesting that we "not" go that route. The plastic is bad for the environment and the companies that distribute the products waste a great deal of our natural resources, including our freshwater.

Only in areas where dirty drinking water contains real dirt and other harmful stuff is bottled the only solution. Anywhere else, a home purifier is the best choice.
