A cystocele is classified by three grades: mild-grade 1; severe-grade 2; and advanced-grade 3. Mild-grade 1 describes a bladder that has fallen only slightly into the vagina. A severe-grade 2 refers to a bladder that has dropped down to the vaginal opening. Finally, an advanced-grade 3 means that part of the bladder is located beyond the vaginal opening.
