What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Through the years, medical science has progressed rapidly. Advanced technologies, equipments, new inventions have made life easier. Evolution of medical science has seen the introduction of new methods of treatment with least or no side effects at all. Whatever the disease may be a patient will always want to be treated with least complications and no medicinal side effects at all. In this regard, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapyhas been a real innovation in the field of medical science. This form of therapy is not new. However, its use has become more prominent in the recent years. It involves use of oxygen, which can cure some of the critical diseases that are immanent in the society these days.

Under this kind of treatment, the oxygen supply is increased by increasing the atmospheric pressure. As a result, the blood fluid known as plasma is able to feed the various organs of our body with oxygen. Specially designed HBOT chambers are available for such therapy. The chambers are designed in such a way so that the pressure inside the chamber can be controlled. Patients are introduced inside the chamber for hyperbaric treatments. Hyperbaric treatments are not done in a single session. Each session is termed as dive. A patient requires 20-30 dives to be completely cured by hyperbaric treatment. Traditional HBOT chambers were capsule shaped vessels. The modern chambers are different. They are made of acrylic and are more user-friendly. HBOT is useful for patients who undergo radioactive treatments. Patients undergoing radioactive treatments may suffer from ruptured blood vessels. HBOT has proved to be useful for such patients in treating ruptured blood vessels. It is also used for treating cancer patients post radiotherapy. Such patients usually suffer from damaged blood vessels. Recent experiments have shown that HBOT treatments help in rejuvenating the damage blood vessels up to almost 95%. However, it can only be achieved after 50-60 dives. HBOT treatments are also useful in the treatment of leukemia. Artemisinin is an anti-cancer drug used in the treatment of leukemia. Recent researches have shown that HBOT treatment for leukemia can work up to 15%. However when artemisinin is used along with HBOT it works up to 35%. Use of HBOT is proving to be very useful to the doctors. Not all people are aware of its effectiveness. People need to know more about HBOT treatments. There are instances where a mother kills his child suffering from cancer. Maybe she becomes hopeless. However, people should be aware that suffering from cancer doesn't mean that a patient has reached the end of the road. HBOT treatments can work wonders for cancer patients.

Personal Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers are also available these days. They are portable and easy to install at home. HBOT treatment is very famous in America. However, its use has not spread in other countries such as India. Once HBOT technique is put into use all across the globe critical treatments will become easier.
