Physician Assistants are the New Wave of Medical Health Care Worker

Being a physician assistant is a great job that is filled with experiences. A lot of people want more from their job. They want a career not just a job. They want a career that is both challenging and rewarding. One day you were wondering what being a PA in the medical field would be like and you went for it. Every PA reports to their supervising physician on all their cases, and there are some work environments that give PAs the autonomy of working independently with patients and the medical staff in your location when the supervising physician isn't at the facility you're in.

Becoming a PA isn't a very hard thing to do and all you need to do is complete a physician assistant program. These PA programs can be found in different states across the country, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem for locating the right program for you to enroll in. PA programs generally only lasts 2 years and almost all programs will require applicants to have at least 2 previous years of college before applying for admission.

It is also recommended that applicants have some work experience in the medical field such as volunteer on blood drives and other medical volunteering. When you start in your first year of the physician assistant program, you will be doing coursework in classes such as biology, english, chemistry, mathematics, psychology and social sciences. In the second year of the program, you will be doing actual hands on clinical rotations working alongside your fellow students.

Each and every state requires that aspiring Pas finish a training program so that they can take their exam and get licensed to start practicing as a PA. The exam is administered to students by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. When you graduate from the PA program, get your certification and your license then you will have to complete 100 hours of continuing medical education every 2 years. PAs are also required to pass a re-certification exam every 6 years and this is mandatory.

As a PA you will always have the option of advancing your position by going into a specialty program such as surgery, pediatrics, neonatal, or emergency medicine. Having a specialty will also improve your salary. If you want to be a physician assistant then you made a great choice.
