There are a lot of advantages for someone who is pursuing a career to be a licensed physician assistant. Right now in 2011, this health care profession has been listed as one of America's fastest growing jobs with thousands of men and women entering into this career every year. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics have predicted that by the year 2014 there will be a 27% increase in the number of people who will be a physician assistant.

Right now there are over 140 different PA schools in the United States, and all of these schools are available for aspiring men and women who are looking to get their associate's degree, their bachelor's degree, or even their master's degree. Almost all PA schools in the country are already going to require applicants to have a bachelor's degree, to have experience working in direct contact with patients, and they all expect applicants to have taken the pre-requisite classes.

The salary for physician assistants isn't an issue because as more people get into this profession, the salary is expected to increase. The real concern is the environment that PAs are going to be working in where it can be pretty hectic. To be honest, the lowest salary for a PA can be in the low 40s and the highest can be in the low six figures for the physician assistant who has a specialty already. There are many places where people will see a PA working, and these places are emergency rooms, hospitals, walk in clinics, prisons, long-term health care facilities like nursing homes, private practices of their supervising physician, they work in rural areas and in inner cities as well.

There is nothing but a bright future ahead of the men and women who choose to take on a career as a physician assistant. There are many retired PAs who put in their time, labor and money in their efforts to have more advancements for physician assistants in the future and they have definitely accomplished that. As you are working as a PA, you are going to be working in direct contact with patients, and you are going to have to be able to exercise patience and understanding as you work with them.

Any health care professional has a passion for helping those who suffer on a daily basis. If you have a big interest in practicing medicine but don't want to go to school for a decade a more to start then becoming a physician assistant is definitely the way to go.
