The Biggest Reason You're Getting Fat
Everybody knows we have an obesity epidemic on our hands. Over the past forty years people on average have packed on more weight and pounds and now are developing problems such as diabetes and cardiovascular illness. What has been the cause for this problem? Why are we gaining so much weight and what has changed since the 1970's to cause this fluxion in weight gain? Many studies have been made, but a recently released one has pointed a finger at a culprit that is tripping everybody up. If you have found the pounds creeping on, if you are growing surprisingly rotund, if you can remember a better time when you were healthier and in better shape, then read on and see if you aren't being tripped up by this secret culprit.
A recent study made has revealed that what is truly causing our increase in weight gain isn't an increase in caloric rich foods, nor even so much the increase in portion size, which has gone up by 12 percent. Instead, the true culprit is an increase in snacking. In the 1970's people were having about three snacks a day, and now it's closer to five. This means that we are simply always eating, constantly snacking between meals, and when you combine this with our more sedentary lifestyles it is easy to see why people are packing on the pounds.
Why has this happened? Why are people eating more today than before? It's largely believed because corporate food producers have made a huge push to make us eat more than we need to. If you go into a pharmacy today to buy some toothpaste you will be confronted by vast racks of chocolate, candy, donuts, all laid right before your eyes. And while none of it is good for you, it's all loaded with sugar, fat, and salt. It's tasty, we enjoy eating it, and as such we are always succumbing to temptation.
The average American is eating about 2,250 calories per day, which is for most people far more than they need. Impulse shopping and the ubiquity of the commercials, promotions, and advertisements for food and snacks has made it virtually impossible for us to ignore food, and to not want a snack at any point. Try and think of any common destination, from the gas station to your local Target, and you'll realize that they are all packed with food for you to buy.
